About Me

Hello there! My name is Cathy and in case you hadn't noticed, I am an artist who happens to adore cats. So, naturally, much of my art is filled with the feline species.

What can I say? I grew up with cat wallpaper in my bedroom, the word "cat" is in my name, and I was born under the sun sign Leo. It was in my calling.

Since I could hold a pencil, I have loved making images and pictures. After earning an art degree at McMaster University, I discovered that the world of fine art was not really my cup of tea. I went on to study children's book illustration at Sheridan College.

The first children's book I illustrated professionally featured cats as the main characters! I have illustrated children's books for Scholastic Canada, Dragoneagle Press and a few independent authors.

My work is influenced by Maurice Sendak, Mary Engelbreit, Vincent Van Gogh, Norman Rockwell, and Trina Schart Hyman to name a handful.

More About Me

As a little girl, I dreamed of selling my own stationery and gift product line. I never imagined that it would revolve mostly around cats, having been a dog lover growing up. It was my husband, then boyfriend, who turned me on to them, and I have been cat crazy ever since.

My small business was born in the summer of 2004, shortly after I was laid off from my first "real" job after art college. I adopted my first cat, Suki, a black and white tuxedo, from a local shelter when there was an overpopulation of cats in Toronto. Suki became my main muse for the next 19 years - finding her way onto greeting cards, buttons, magnets, clothing, bags and other stationery items - and still inspires me to this day.

Everything in my shop has been made with love with my two hands. I illustrate and design all the products, cut paper goods, screen print apparel and bags and package everything.

We have since added three kids and four rescue cats to our family, who have become studio assistants.
